On the last Sunday of April, the Hoosier Mid-Atlantic ATQMRA powered by VP hosted an organizational test at Wall Stadium Speedway, NJ. After what was deemed a successful test session by both ATQMRA officials and track management, the following rules changes will be implemented for (at least) the first three ATQMRA Wall Stadium events this season:
1. Wings:All competitors will be required to race with wings mounted to their cars per ATQMRA rulebook specifications.
2. Cone Rule:For every restart, competitors will be required to start single file. A cone will be placed “one-lane” off the yellow line that extends around the perimeter of the racing surface. Competitors will not be able to advance their position prior to passing the cone to their inside. With this being said, competitors will continue to initially start the race (only) double-file. However, like the restarts, competitors will not be able to advance their position until passing the cone to their inside. The cone will be placed “two-lanes” off the yellow line on the initial start.
Through this industry wide effort, the end goal is to not only enhance the on-track product from a performance standpoint, but from a safety standpoint as well. As mentioned, these rules will be implemented for the ATQMRA events on May 26th, July 7th, and August 25th, 2018. A rules packaged for both the September 22ndATQMRA event as well as for the annual running of the “Turkey Derby” will be announced on a future date.
