WALL, NJ- For the first time since the inception of Wall Stadium’s inner oval, the Hoosier Mid-Atlantic ATQMRA powered by VP Racing Fuel will feature wings for a Turkey Derby event beginning this Thanksgiving weekend.
During the previous off-season, in collaboration with ATQMRA board members and speedway officials, the decision was made to require all ATQMRA vehicles to race with wings at Wall Stadium in 2018. From both a safety and competition standpoint, the wings have been a proven success, thus leading to the decision to mandate a winged aero package for 45th running of the Turkey Derby.
Along with the wing requirement, the following rules package will be enforced at Turkey Derby XLV:
2017 Indoor Engine rules will be allowed.
The minimum weight requirement is 850 pounds with driver post qualifying/race.
A maximum width of 55 inches measured at the bulge of the tire from the outside of the right rear to the outside of the left rear will be mandated.
It will be required that all cars run an outdoor RR tire. (LC5 10 inch, USAC 13 inch).
An entry fee of $40 will be charged to all competitors for this non-points event. Heat race line-ups will be set by group qualifying time trials. Furthermore, the 30-lap feature line up will be set by a redraw per car count, per the ATQMRA rulebook. For more information on the ATQMRA rulebook, please visit ATQMRA.com/about-me/.
The Hoosier Mid-Atlantic ATQMRA portion of Turkey Derby XLV is set to take place on Saturday, November 24th, 2018. In preparation for the event, paid practice sessions will be available to all competitors on both Saturday November 10th, and Saturday November 17th, 2018.
