The Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Series fueled by VP sailed into Wall Stadium Speedway for Pirate and Bike Night on Saturday. Anthony Payne and Buddy Sload claimed the $100 Aqua Solutions Heat Race Wins.
The TQ’s have had 4 races in a row with no cautions, until lap 1 of the feature. As front row starters, #36 Buddy Sload and #95 Jeff Kot launched down the front stretch, the #55 of Steve Craig experienced a mechanical issue, #51 Anthony Payne reacted quickly but with nowhere to go #99 Ryan Tidman and #0 Billy Cole made contact with the #51. Payne’s night would be over.
On the complete restart, Buddy Sload would get the lead into turn one with #12 Blake Barney locked onto his bumper, followed by Kot, Tidamn and Ferris. Sload and Barney would open a lead over the Kot, Tidman and Ferris three wide battle at times, before Tidman secured the position, followed by Ferris and Kot.
Tidman would track down leaders Sload and Barney to make it a close battle for the top spot, before Barney dove to the inside of Sload going into turn three, Tidman would see his chance to strike, diving to the inside of Sload shortly after.
Barney would not give Tidman a chance to take his spot, grabbing the Finish Line Bookkeeping Fast Time Award at 13.051 and earning his first TQ win, and car owner Michael Murray getting his first ATQMRA win, in the beautifully prepared #12.
The race team thanked The Dent Zones, Engines by Phil’s Machine, and Prime Design in their victory lane celebrations.
The points battle heated up with (1) Tidman, (2) Ferris and (3) Barney all within striking distance of a championship, heading into the Martin Truex Sr Memorial 156.
